The Webworld Content ManagerTM CMS

The Mid-Size Solution With Enterprise-Class Features

The Webworld Content Manager (WCM) software is a dynamic, J2EE[1] compliant content management solution that is a natural fit for organizations faced with the challenge of bringing their ever-growing site content requirements under control--and placing that control into the hands of their non-technical content owners.

The Webworld Content Manager tools were designed for use by non-technical staff. Its many ease-of-use features enable them to keep an orgnaization's web sites fresh and up-to-date while authorized technical personnel centrally control the look-and-feel.

The WCM has native support for important industry standards such as XML and Web Services, and is compatible with today's leading operating systems. It was developed from the ground up in ColdFusion MX, a widely-adopted web application server and programming language. The ColdFusion MX architecture simplifies customization as well as integration of the WCM with other applications and technologies. (For more info on ColdFusion MX click here.)

Ease-of-Use Features That Empower Non-Technical Staff

The Webworld Content Manager provides easy-to-use tools designed to allow non-technical staff to add, edit and otherwise manage site content and pages. These include:

  • Browser-Based Tools - no knowledge of HTML is required. No client software required to be installed (and maintained) on the users system.

  • Public-Side Editing - enables editing directly from the web site itself.

  • Word-like Text Editor - with Spell Checker. Cut & Paste from Microsoft Office files.

  • Easy Page Management - Add and Edit pages with intuitive interface. Drop & Drop tool for moving and deleting pages.

Roles-Based Security

Access to content and pages is controlled by a very flexible approach. Administrators assign users to groups, which have been pre-configured with specific rights. Users then have access to various tools, areas of the site and content categories in accordance with their predefined permissions.

Workflow

The Webworld Content Manager ships with a two-stage content approval workflow. This allows an organization to QA content before it is published live to the site. This is accomplished through the roles-based security; content authors have the permissions to create content, but not approve/publish it (which is done by content editors). Email notification is sent to content editors that the new content is ready for review, and the editor has the right to approve or disapprove the content. Users with Page Publishing rights may then add the new content to the site.

Ability to Manage Many Different Types of Content

The WCM ships with a library of ten pre-built, reusable Content Types--which can be thought of as content "templates." These types include Press Release, General Text, File, Image and Event types. Each Content Type has its own unique set of properties (fields) including such things as Title, Subtitle, Author, Body and so on.
