Content Migration and Site Creation Phase

The migration of existing content is an often overlooked part of the process. If you have an existing web site you will need to take into account migrating that content into the CMS. At the top end of the CMS product line tools are sometimes provided to help facilitate this, however, this is a very difficult thing to automate. In almost all cases at least some manual intervention will be required. 

In most cases, however, content migration will by its nature be mostly a manual process. Ask the vendors you are considering to suggest content migration strategies and take the cost of getting your content into the new system into account.

Even if you don't have an existing web site, you still need to determine how you're going to populate your content into the CMS system. This step adds additional time and cost.
